๐Ÿงพ Marketing Support/Assistance Scheme for Bar Code

The Ministry of MSME, Government of India, reimburses MSMEs for expenses related to obtaining barcodes from GS1 India, which is the only authorized body in India for barcode allocation.


๐ŸŽฏ Objective of the Scheme

The objective of this support is to encourage MSMEs to use barcodes on their products to improve:

  • ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Marketability

  • ๐Ÿ” Product traceability

  • ๐Ÿ”„ Supply chain integration, especially for exports and modern retail formats


๐ŸŽ Benefits under the Scheme

  • โœ… 75% reimbursement of the one-time registration fee

  • โœ… 75% reimbursement of the annual recurring fee for the first 3 years

  • ๐Ÿšซ Applicable only for fees paid to GS1 India, not GST or any other body


๐Ÿ† Basic Objective of Financial Assistance

The basic objective of financial assistance is to enhance the marketing competitiveness of Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs) by:

  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Providing 75% of the one-time registration fee and annual recurring fee (for first three years) paid by MSEs to GS1 India

  • ๐Ÿ“ข Popularizing the adoption of bar codes on a large scale among MSEs

  • ๐ŸŽค Motivating and encouraging MSEs for use of bar codes through conducting seminars on Bar Code, etc.
