๐ย Key Documents Required for Customs Clearance of Exported Goods from India

For export of goods from India, the exporter must approach the designated Export Inspection Agency (EIA) for pre-shipment inspection and quality control certification under the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act.
The inspection certificate issued by the Export Inspection Agency is required for customs clearance prior to shipment, wherever mandatory quality control applies.
For customs clearance of exported goods from India, the following documents are mandatory:
๐ A. Shipping Bill / Airway Bill

Shipping Bill is required for sea or land transport.

Airway Bill is required for air transport.

Either one is mandatory depending on the mode of transport โ it acts as the primary document for customs clearance.

This document provides the details of the transaction, such as price, terms, buyer/seller details, product description, and currency.
๐ฆ C. Packing List

Lists the exact contents of the consignment โ package-wise weight, dimensions, and item details โ crucial for inspection and verification.
๐ก Note: Marine Insurance Policy

This is required by the buyer for cargo protection, especially for CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) contracts.
