5S is a workplace organization method used in Lean Manufacturing to improve efficiency, safety, cleanliness, and productivity by maintaining a well-organized work environment.
It originated from Japan and is part of the Toyota Production System (TPS).

Each “S” is a Japanese word that starts with an S, along with its English translation:
