The Udyam Assist Platform (UAP), developed by SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India), is aimed at informal micro enterprises. These are small, often unregistered businesses that operate outside the formal economic structure. The platform helps them transition into the formal sector by facilitating their registration under the Udyam Registration system. Once registered, these enterprises can access formal credit, government schemes, and other benefits that were previously unavailable to them due to their informal status.

The Udyog Aadhar Registration, introduced to simplify the MSME registration process, was officially replaced by the Udyam Registration system on 1st July 2020 by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.

To be eligible for Udyog Aadhar (or Udyam Registration under the updated system), an enterprise must fall within the officially defined categories of Micro, Small, or Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). These classifications are based on investment in plant & machinery or equipment and annual turnover.

📌 Revised Criteria for Classification (as per latest MSME definition):

Effective from 1st July 2020, an enterprise is classified as:

1. Micro Enterprise

  • Investment: Not more than ₹1 crore

  • Turnover: Not more than ₹5 crore

2. Small Enterprise

  • Investment: Not more than ₹10 crore

  • Turnover: Not more than ₹50 crore

3. Medium Enterprise

  • Investment: Not more than ₹50 crore

  • Turnover: Not more than ₹250 crore
