The Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) scheme is a flagship initiative launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, to promote quality manufacturing and environmentally sustainable practices among Indian MSMEs in October 2016.

Zero Defect refers to producing high-quality products that meet international standards, with no defects, especially for export.

Zero Effect means that the manufacturing process should have no negative impact on the environment, i.e., minimal pollution, efficient use of resources, and sustainability.
