The Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) scheme is a flagship initiative launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, to promote quality manufacturing and environmentally sustainable practices among Indian MSMEs in October 2016.

  • Zero Defect refers to producing high-quality products that meet international standards, with no defects, especially for export.

  • Zero Effect means that the manufacturing process should have no negative impact on the environment, i.e., minimal pollution, efficient use of resources, and sustainability.
