A critical analysis and assessment of strength and weakness, opportunities and threats in relation to internal and external environmental factors affecting an entity’ is called SWOT Analysis. TOWS creates four distinct strategic directions: SO Strategy (Maxi-Maxi), ST Strategy (Maxi-Mini), WO Strategy (Mini-Maxi) and WT Strategy (Mini-Mini).
It is a Diagnostic Tool. Fits under Strategic Analysis. It is an Action Tool. Fits under Strategic Formulation.
It tells you “Where we are right now.” It answers the question: “How do we use our strengths to handle the environment?”
